NF1-mutant melanoma is a reason to ask how the oncology team interprets the genomic report. It may shape trial-search language even when it does not point to a simple standard targeted option.

What to clarify

  • Was NF1 the main reported alteration or one of several findings?
  • Were BRAF, NRAS, KIT, and NTRK also evaluated?
  • Does the report mention tumor mutational burden or other immunotherapy-relevant features?

Questions to ask

  • Does the NF1 result change treatment sequencing?
  • Are there trials that include NF1-mutant or RAS-pathway melanoma?
  • Should the genomic report be reviewed by a molecular tumor board?
